When you make essentially a 17 minute eulogy to a dead parent, and it doesn’t feel smug, self-indulgent, boring, or overly depressing, it shows that there’s something more to Keenan’s work. It’s a “don’t hate the band, hate the fans” case with them. They even have scoffed at ridiculous interpretations of their work (which I’ll have to find for you some day).

I just became a Tool fan recently, and once you start to really LISTEN to their music I think there’s a lot there that most people may overlook because its “loud,” and “angry.”
Instrumentally, they are extremely advanced. Its awe-inspiring, really. Maynard is intelligent, well-read, and extremely deep. I remember back in high school laughing at metal-heads and stoners who wore Tool shirts, but now I kind of want one myself, haha.
Good blog! I’m glad you went back and appreciated them like I did.

Da Ghostland Obs. Yeah, pretty good music, but they don’t really fit into any particular genre. Kinda like you said.

I mixed up “Nag Nag Nag Nag” and “Jealous Guy”. That concerns me. (For the [n]one of you that care, “Jealous Guy” is what I described in place of “Nag Nag,” which is “Eddie is growing up but he still likes being younger!”
